A while ago people noticed that nic.funet.fi:pub/OS directory
doesn't exist -- I did write something but not the truth.

Yes, the pub/OS (as well as pub/sci, pub/graphics, pub/culture)
directories are temporily away due disk installations (and problems).
They are away currently at date Sep 28.

I maintain pub/graphics (computer graphics) directory so I have only
noticed the lack of graphics directory and didn't noticed the lack of
OS directory.
