Ok, ok, I must admit, these files aren't damaged, they were just
split to fit on floppies for transportation.
Thanks for all the people who responded to this so quickly.

I would have known it when it had an extension like:

xbin2.0.TZab
xfonts2.0.TZab
xfonts2.0.TZac

which is what I would immediately recognize as a splitted archive.

I haven't seen any splitted archives in the available "Linux-ware" before,,
and I actually didn't think about these filenames very long --
it was Friday evening 8:30 pm and I was ready for the weekend,
just wanted to take these files along ... :-)
