It depends what you mean by alias. I assume you mean being able to
assign a new name for a command or series of commands, which means
that this would be a function of your shell (bash, most likely, but it
could be rc or some other lame shell), and is not a function of Linux.

bash: yes, but shell functions are 'better'.
rc: no, but shell functions do the same type of thing.
?csh: yes.

If you need more information, read the manual page for your shell, or
ask in comp.unix.shells. It is not really an appropriate topic for
comp.os.linux.
