There are several newsreaders that, one way or another, should allow
you to avoid reading that which does not interest you. I believe that
most, if not all newsreaders support kill files. This is the simplest
way to avoid GCC or X, if that is what you want to do.
Of course, if you have a _real_ newsreader like nn, you simply don't
read the articles you don't want to. For those of you stuck with rn
or worse, beat on your sysadmin. They appreciate that sort of thing.

This is not to say I'm opposed to the split. I'm undecided at this
point, but I'll probably decide before the RFV comes through (if it
does).
I've seen some FIDO and mailing list people oppose the split. What
exactly is the problem here?
BTW, anyone want comp.os.linux.advocacy? ;)
