Subject: HD-timeouts -- hardware or kernel?
Date: 21 Sep 1992 15:45:35 GMT

After reading a recent post I noticed that the hd-timeout errors may still
be a problem associated with the kernel. I am beginning to think that
my hard-drive may be going bad because of the recent rash of these errors
that I have been getting. Here's the scenario:

.97pl1 kernel: suddenly started getting hd-timeout errors about two
weeks _after_ I installed the new kernel.

.97pl4 kernel: same thing.

The errors don't start until the machine has been on for atleast an hour
or two. Any input?

system: 386-25sx, 4M RAM, 2M swap, 40M Western Digital HD (IDE)

thanks.
