"Question about rz/sz" - me too ;-)

I shell from xc and call 'get' which has no more than the line
 rz <$MODEM >$MODEM
in it.

It runns fine, gives a lot of information flooding the screen about the
packets and such - only I would like to write a nice wrapping around it
that looks a bit like GSZ - a speedometer, percent and time and all...

How can I get the information from sz/rz - would I have to modify the
rz/sz-source itself?

And another question: What exactly does the init-string say, which has
got a lot of zeros in it at times and then again not ;-)

Awayting your answers, Michael Will from Hamburg, West-Germany...
