Subject: X PROBLEMS & QUESTIONS

Hi Linuxers!

As I am a newbie at the X11 stuff i 've got some questions and also some
problems.
Problems first:
I have installed the X11 v.1.1 package and the X8514-server on Linux 0.97pl1.
I 've had the same problem with kernels newer than 0.97pl1 as Martin Rex, so
I decided to stay with pl1 until this problem solved.
But also another problem comes up when using xman: when scrolling (fast) through
the man pages there will be sometimes garbage in the window. It seems as if the
bitblt-routines or the font cache of the 8514-Server is causing the problem.

And I have another problem with my busmouse (the one of my ATI Graphics Ultra
card). Altough I have applied the busmouse patch to the kernel it doesn't work.
The busmouse is configured with default settings: IRQ 5 and address 0x23C.
Any suggestions what I am doing wrong?

So far the problems, now the questions: I'm searching for a good easy-to-use
word processor under X (ok, TeX is pretty good, but sometimes I wish to have
wysiwyg and that sort of things :-) ).
And as I plan to write X programs: I wonder if any toolkits and/or
documentation exist for X11 to maintain the design of programs.

Any help/comments and suggestions are welcome.
