Subject: Image installing problem

Hi,
I have 0.96c linux SLS distribution , I compiled 0.97 over 0.96c I obtained
new Image, but how can I activate this new Image on hard disk or on floppy.
 I have seen a solution LILO and I got its new version lilo.5.tar.z
But I couldnt compile it since it requires 0.96c.pl1and gives compiling error
when compiling geometry.c .What can I do?,Can you help me.
