If I remember correctly, recent unlicenzed VMS versions of Zmodem expect
some magic cookies that are only sent by Omen's Zmodem programs, but not
by the "clones" (well, at least at that time). So you might indeed run
into some "technical" problems.

Too bad Kermit doesn't have a "fast" mode with all the control character
escaping disabled ...
