From: rjhe@oce.nl (Rob Hegt) Subject: Trouble installing SLS Date: Mon, 7 Sep 1992 06:58:49 GMT
Hello all,
Yesterday I installed my new HD (234MB!!!!), and thought I could now
re-install Linux from the SLS disks. I didn't come very far, though.
Somewhere during the "Loading RAM-disk ...." the system hangs.
I have installed Linux before, using the MJ-package without any (real)
problems. Although I didn't use this installation very heavily, it
seemed to work without problems.
Does anyone have an idea about what might be wrong? I could use the MJ-
stuff again, and use the SLS-disks 3-15 to complete the system, but I
would rather be able to install from SLS only.
System information:
no-name 33MHz 386; Cache chip set
AMI bios
4MB
Thanks,
Rob Hegt
By the way, can anybody tell me what 'write precompensation' is. It is one
of the fields I have to fill in in the HD set-up of the CMOS.
