Well, I can only blame it on my own stupidity, and the fact that I was
annoyed that I was trying to balance my checkbook at the same time and
it was coming out $105 off. I forgot to set the root device to /dev/hda1.
Sorry to waste bandwidth, but don't bother replying to this. Thanks.

P.S. Yes, the checkbook balance was a stupid error too. This was not
