Subject: [Q] Lilo installation, chaining MSDOS 5.0 doesnt work for me ?
Date: 28 Oct 1992 12:24:59 GMT

First, I installed lilo from the shell

 !#/bin/sh
 /etc/lilo/lilo -b /dev/hda -c -i /etc/lilo/boot.b linux=/etc/Image \
   msdos=/etc/lilo/chain.b+/dev/hda1@/dev/hda

 This reports

 Added linux
 Added msdos

However, when I try to boot up to MSDOS I get

  Non system disk....

So, I went back to linux (currently I am on 0.98 p2), and did the following

 cd /etc/lilo
 ./lilo -m map -v

 this reports

 linux <dev=0x80, hd=7, cyl=19, sct=...><root=0x0302,swap=0x0000>
 msdos <dev=0x80, hd=7, cyl=19, sct=...+1>< " ">

But my hard disk parameters should read
             No of heads = 8
             No of cylinders = 771 (for /dev/hda, else 388 /dev/hda1)

So I decided to define these in /etc/lilo/disktab, but the question is

  [Q] What/who decides the DEVICE NUMBER ?

  [Q] What/who decide the BIOS CODE ?

[Q] The exact format of parameters in /etc/lilo/disktab ?

 On another subect now ...

[Q] Detection of serial mouse and the interrupt setting its on, what source?
As my mouse is set on interrupt 4 ( I cant/dont want to change this
setting as I have other hardware using various interrupts )
