From: tp@jet.uk (Tarang K Patel) Subject: Trying to compile linux 0.98, where is protocols.h ? Date: 23 Oct 1992 16:33:05 GMT
Hi,
I decided to install Linux 0.98, having got the source, and the patches
0.98.patch1, 0.98.patch2 .
I tought I'd be clever and save my self sometime, by installing all 3
i.e Linux 0.98 and both patches together. I followed, Linus's README
file from /usr/src/linux/, here he mentions getting hold of
/usr/include/netinet/protocols.h
I cant find this any where,
[Q] Where is it, and Why is it not included in the release LINUX.0.98 ?
Anyway, as I was not installing tcp/ip stuff for the moment, I thought
I'd carry on to make the Image file.
ie in /usr/src/linux
make ROOT_DEV=/dev/hda2 Image
This happily carried on to complie, and link various libraries and then
all of a sudden (As these things do happen all of a sudden !
there whoosh ! bang !! wollap !!!) the make stopped with an ERROR [1]
while compling files in
/linux/kernel/math/
saying things like
union ....... `cwd` not found I think
Sorry, about the vague message here.
[Q] Does anyone out there know whats going on ?
For Information, my current system is the MCC-interim 0.97pl2 .
And I am running gcc 2.2.2.d .
[Q] Is there any way of finding out version release of GCC, as
a number of products say you must have at least version .... ?
If not, why not have an option, something like
gcc -V
Thanks to all those who reply.
Tarang
