Linux doesn't really run happily with less than 1 MB. 2 is the
recommended minimum, and I wouldn't recommend less than 4.
Linux should use about the same as 386bsd unless it already has shared lib.
Linux has very good shared libs that bring many useful binaries into
the 1000-2000 byte range.
