Subject: Wanted: Alternate WinMangers for Linux
Date: 19 Oct 1992 14:57:34 -0500

I have installed the SLS 0.98 linux system with XFree86-1.1, but would
like an alternate windows manager for X. I would like something more
along the lines of what I am used to (MS-Windows, OS/2 PM, and HP-VUE).
I downloaded gwm and olvwm from sunsite.unc.edu, but I can't get either
to work. I have tried to recompile them both without success. I will
be re-installing with SLS 0.98p1 tonight (complete reinstall, had to
repartition the HD again for other reasons), but will hold off updating
X to 1.1 again until I can get this problem solved.

My configuration is:
DFI 386-33 cached w/AMI bios
16MB RAM
202MB IDE HD (120MB-DOS,80MD-Linux ExtFS, OS/2 Bootmanager)
CMS Jumbo 250 tape drive
Diamond SpeedStar-24
MAG Inovision MX-15F monitor

***NOTE: I can get the Diamond SpeedStar-24 to work, but only by running
the MS-Windows drivers under DOS first to program the clocks. I will be
selling it and getting a decent card soon, having to boot twice after
power-up realy sucks!! Boycott Diamond until they wise up and release
programing info on their cards!!!
***

Any help would be greatly apreciated. I will post what solutions I get
if necessary.

TIA

wdh
