Subject: [Q] Installing LILO with MCC 0.97p2 to BOOT off my hard disk ?
Date: 19 Oct 1992 16:32:15 GMT

Today, I tried to install LILO to my hard disk. Upto now, I use BOOTLIN with
IMAGE on my MS-DOS partition. Also I have previously installed LILO on floppy
and that works.

 My configuration :
    /dev/hda1 ------ MS DOS 5.0 52mb
    /dev/hda2 ------ LINUX 42mb
    /dev/hda3 ------ linux swap 8mb
  --------------------------------------------
                                      102 mb

I installed lilo as follows, having logged in as root

   cd /etc
   rdev Image /dev/hda2
   cd lilo
   ./lilo -i boot.b -c -b /dev/hda -m map linux=/etc/Image \
            msdos=/etc/lilo/chain.b+/dev/hda1@//dev/hda

 I am informed :

   Added linux
   Added msdos

After which I logout and reboot. Upon reboot I hold <crtl> <alt> <shift>
 and get the following :

  Lilo:

I type ?, to which it replys

 linux msdos

Now, I can boot to LINUX but when I try to boot MSDOS by typing

 msdos

 then I get

            Non system disk .......

After a wait of 1 minute, lilo boots up LINUX

 [Q] Where have I gone wrong ?

[Q] What does the line - rdev Image /dev/hda2 ----- really do ?
