Well, I have the "ACEtek" 3-button mouse, which is exactly the same as
the ARTEK except for the name (trust me, I have one of each -- although
I never used the ARTEK with Linux). I set the switch on the bottom to
"PC-3KEY", and added this line to my XConfig:

        MouseSystems /dev/ttys0

Worked fine without any further tweaking. I believe the ACEtek and
ARTEK mice are limited to 1200 baud, BTW...maybe that's the cause
of your problem?
