I have just compiled the x8514 Xserver for SLS 0.98p1 and except that it
took about three hours there were no major problems.

The problem is that i cannot run this Xserver. There are at least two
quirks and any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. my ATI-Busmouse isn't recognized by the X-Server. As this seems to be a
common problem, i hope that there is someone who can tell me how exactly
i have to configure X11 to recognize this mouse.
2. the Xserver says that he couldn't set the default font-path and therefore
he can't load the fixed font. I believe that someone did have the same problem
but i have not seen any answer to it.
If someone is interested in the binaries I could upload them possibly to
tsx-11.mit.edu.
