Subject: Can Linux work with DTC 3280-SCSI-COntroller ??
Date: 15 Oct 1992 12:41:36 GMT

Hello Linux-Gurus,

I am trying to install Linux on my system. I made the boot- and root-disk
and did a reboot.
Everything looked fine, i was asked to insert the root-floppy and got
a install login: message. Fine.
When I try to start fdisk to create a new Linux partition, it seems
that none of my disks and none of the (already installed) partitions is
found. (I tried /dev/hda /dev/hdb /dev/sda /dev/hdb and others, but I got
always the same answer.)
All I get is "cannot read" or "error reading" the device I specified.
Here is my Configuration:
  386DX, AMI-Bios, 8MB Ram
DTC 3280 SCSI-Controller (no busmastering, PIO)
I think the controller is configured not to use interrupts.
first harddisk 200MB, SCSI id 0, 4 partitions, one empty
second harddisk 80MB, SCSI id 2, no partitions
  Diamond Stealth VRAM-Graphics.

While booting, the system told me that it did not find any Hostadaptor and
no disks, so that I was not able to do the install-process.
I tried the other accounts and everything worked fine.

What is my problem ??
Do I have to drop the Controller and get a ST02 (arrgghhh, I dropped that for
the DTC...), or is it just Config??

Thanks in advance
Gerd
