Subject: Problems fixing a terminal through the RS232
Date: Fri, 9 Oct 1992 12:33:14 GMT

Hello the Linux world!

Hopefully this is a very simple problem that someone can easily answer. I
racked my brains last night til 2am and then gave up!

I'm trying to hook up a Hewlett Dumb Terminal to Linux via an RS232 lead.
The inittab file has the entry-:

ttys0:dumb:ttys0 9600

or something similar (brain dead since last night)

and in the rc I have put the line in-:

setserial /dev/ttys0 0x2F8 3

This sets up the COM2 port. *BUT* when I reboot I get nothing on the dumb
terminals screen. I created a user terminal with no password and typed
'terminal' on the dumb terminal. This logged in the user but if you typed
'terminal' again, it logged in another user on ttys1.

What's going on?

Any help muchly appreciated!
