Subject: .98 doesn't ask about video modes! A REAL problem!
Date: 2 Oct 1992 23:09:38 GMT

I just got .98 and made the boot and rootimage disks from nic.funet.fi. On
older versions, it would ask me if I wanted to choose a SVGA mode and I could
bypass that and stay with 80x25. Well, my card is an ATI VGA Wonder+ with
256K ram. It doesn't seem to work in any SVGA mode. On earlier versions, if
I tried to choose one of the listed SVGA modes (132x55 or 132x44) it would
continue in 80x25 mode but when it got to the bottom of the screen, it
wouldn't scroll and therefore loose everything that should be scrolling off
the screen.

Now, my problem with .98 is that it gives me the options (132x25 or 132x44)
and says: Choose mode by pressing the corresponding number.
I never press anything because it doesn't let me. I guess it just assumes
one of those modes and the same thing happens. I get nowhere! The last line
on my screen is:

scsi : 0 hosts.

There is more, I know, but it is off my screen because it thinks I am running
more than 25 lines. Can anything be done about this? I really would like
linux to work on my machine, especially with tcp/ip since that is what I do
here at school (Network Support).
