The current Assigned Numbers RFC (1340) recommends a
default time-to-live (TTL) of 64. See page 32.
It's a tradeoff between having your packets able to reach
obscure corners of the Internet, and not having possible
routing loops be filled with infinite-life (256) packets.
On sunos you need to adb your kernel to change this.
