Actually, I think a lot of the volume could be reduced if people
wouldn't quote entire articles, but would edit away all the unnecessary
things. It seems to me that this problem, which plagues the whole of
Usenet, is worse than average on c.o.l. Cutting the quotations down a
bit would make it easier to read articles, even though it doesn't reduce
the article count. Too often one has to wade through a zillion lines of
quotes to get at the one added line.

Oh, and Mike, please don't get offended because I used your article as
an example: I don't think that this is something that anybody in
particular is doing wrong, but something that the whole group does.
It's not that I want somebody or somebodies in particular to change
their ways, but I would like _everybody_ to change. (Besides, your
suggestion was a good one.)

BTW, does anybody know how one gets down from a soapbox?
