        I am extremely confused about why you would want to do this the way
you are suggesting. There is a standard filesystem, ISO9660, that is well
established for cdroms, and there is a linux iso 9660 filesystem which will
read these disks, which is available from tsx-11.mit.edu in
pub/linux/ALPHA/cdrom.

        There is also an extension to the iso 9660 standard, called Rock Ridge,
which allows you to specify unlimited length linux-syntax filenames, file modes
and ownership, symlinks, block and character devices and deep directories.
The linux iso9660 filesystem is able to make use of these extensions,

        Could you explain why you need to use the minix or extfs filesystem
on a cdrom???
