FAQ maintainers, are you listening ? (If it is already in the FAQ, I hope you
aren't (blush).)
I don't know the situation where the dip switch you mentioned is useful, it just
does not allow the necessary selection for our problem. This means that you
have to set it up via software. In the printer manual (!), you will find a
list of the avialable commands. On page C-6 (at least in the german edition of
the DJ500 manual), there is an entry :

function command decimal equiv. hex equiv.
CR->CR,LF->CR+LF,FF->CR+FF Esc&k2G 27 38 107 50 71 1B 26 6B 32 47

If you send this sequence to the printer (Esc meaning : Esc key, of course),
it will switch to the desired mode. So, just put it in a file and cat it to
the printer (from rc, or from the command line before printing).
