I have a 0.98p5 system with xfree 1.0y and observed some very
strange behavior. I have a trackball on com1. I boot
linux and all serial ports are recognized.

I say startx, it starts up 1/2 way and hangs. If I remove
my mouse it stays hung. The second I plug in my terminal
into the mouse port it fires right up.

0.98p5serial.patch doesn't seem to help either.

Any help in keeping me from switching cables would be appreadicated.

I believe this happens with xfree 1.1 also.

I have no problems running the same software under 0.97p6
