I had the identical problem; it turns out that you have to configure one
drive to be the master and the other to be a slave (ever notice how much
bondage jargon there is in computing?). Anyway, there are usually
jumpers or
switches underneath or along the back of the IDE drive. The right
settings
are not always obvious, so unless you have the docs for both drives,
call a
friendly service tech - they'll usually talk you through stuff like this
over
the phone, and it sure beats trial and error... Good luck!
