I'm just starting to try and install linux-0.98p5. The system uses an Adaptec
AHA-1542-A scsi host adapter, Maxtor 8380-S and a Maxtor LXT-200-S.
It also has a Toshiba CD-ROM, a Genoa 7000 VGA, a 33 Mhz 386 (with 387), and
8 Mb. of RAM. Almost forgot, there's a Media Vision Pro-Audio Spectrum in
there also. I'm trying to put linux on the LXT-200.
Everything goes okay until the fdisk. Even that seems to work okay, but the
subsequent reboot says that /dev/sdb has a bad partition entry. A new fdisk
execution confirms that the partition table is garbled. Needless to say,
everything on the drive is gone. BTW: I am entering the head, sector and
cylinder params as used by the Adaptec BIOS (64, 32, 191 respectively).
If anyone's heard of anything like this, and can give me a clue where to start,
I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any help ...
