Subject: 486 in 386 socket??
Date: Sat, 21 Nov 1992 20:14:45 GMT

I bought a 386-40 motherboard a while ago. My friend also bought
a complete 386-40 motherboard system just last week. The salesman
told her that the motherboard will accept a 486 as future upgrade d
directly in the socket. I noticed that the AMD-40 was mounted
on what looked like to be a small card which then was mounted into the
processor socket. My motherboard has the same thing. Does anybody
know if that the AMD-40 plugs into the socket VIA this type of
adapter, it too can be upgraded at any time to a 486??
BTW: what does a 486-33 chip go for nowadays.

I need the speed for Linux and some FE programs and that is why
I posted it in this newsgroup.
