From: dingelde@igd.fhg.de (Dennis Dingeldein) Subject: any X11 based WYSIWYG word processors ? Date: 19 Nov 1992 12:52:36 GMT
Hi,
I wonder if there are cheap (*) word processors based on X11 that can
do more than emacs, for example:
- WYSIWYG, i.e. text attributes like sub/superscript, bold,
underlined, slanted ...
- Menue oriented
- perhaps a common output format (e.g. PostScript)
(*): cheap means free or nearly for free.
It seems that there is strong support for image processing by clients
that comes with X ("xv", "xloadimage"), but none for WYSIWYG text processing.
If you have some hints or information or even a ftp-location for such
a thing, please drop me a mail!
By the way, the availability of such a tool as part of the X11 distribution
would improve the acceptance of X11 and even of UNIX...
Dennis
