Subject: Q: Compilation warnings and other stuff when building kernel.

Hi fellow linuxers,

Lately I recompiled the kernel ( 0.98pl1 ) on my machine to include the network
stuff and got a few compilation warnings while doing so. I am wondering if these
can cause any trouble with the operating system or if I should forget about them.
They where mostly types inconsistencies if I recall. BTW, the warning where not
necessarily related to the network software.

Also, when I boot the system, I get the "unexpected interrupt" error from the
floppy. I thought it was gone with this distribution ( SLS 0.98pl1 ). It doesn't
bother me much but since it is supposed to be gone I wonder about its presence.
Any ideas?

When starting X11 with "startx" I get the following error message:

==> "no SIOCGIFCONF"
     XFree86 Version 1.1 / X Window System
     (protocol......

what does the "no SIOCGIFCONF" message mean and what are its effects on the system?
Note that X11 works normally and I really enjoy it.

Thanks for any information on the matter.

BTW I haven't been running DOS for quite a while and I must admit, I do not miss it
for a single CPU cycle.
