I have a similar problem, with a twist -
I was operating two machines under linux. Both were 486-33s with the AMI
bios (and I _think_ the same version). One had a 1Mb T'seng Labs ET4000 and
a 42Mb IDE drive, the other a 1Mb Trident and an NEC 42 Mb SCSI drive on a
Future Domain TMC 950 card. On the first, no problems whatever. On the second,
running linux wipes the CMOS about 9 times out of 10. Any body any ideas on
that one? Same version of linux (in fact for all versions since mcc 0.97.2).
( I can't check the bios versions for a couple of weeks - exams - but I'll
have a look afterwards. It might be instructive.)
