This WORKS GREAT for old binaries. As a matter of fact, for xcomm which
with con100x40 used to leave a virtual console (VC) hosed so that vi
could not be used --- wrong number of lines, vi et al can be used on the
virtual console after running xcomm. [This never was a serious problem,
as "reserved" VC 1 for XC].

I will still only use VC 1 for minicom or xcomm so that cannot startx
while downloading [esp. after midnight].

BTW: xcomm appears faster than minicom when doing trn to remote host.
