From: dth@cs.brown.edu (Dzung T. Hoang) Subject: shoelace messed up my linux partition Date: Sun, 1 Nov 1992 00:26:34 GMT
I tried to use shoelace to make my linux partition bootable so that I can
start it with OS/2's boot manager. I followed the instructions in the
readme file as well as possible. (Given that the instructions were for the
minix version, it was difficult deciding what was relevant.) The partition
does not boot up with boot manager. The disk drive makes a periodic noise
that seems to imply some kind of infinite loop. I tried booting from floppy
using the partition as root. The boot program complained that the hard
drive has an illegal magic number.
Is there a way I can recover the partition short of reformating it? Also,
is there a well-tested program to allow booting from OS/2 boot manager?
Thanks in advance for your help.
