Does anyone have the source code to a port of Zip 1.0? I have used
the virgin source to try to compile it under Linux, and using the System V
and MINIX configurations as well as one of my own, have not been able to
get it to compile and work. It compresses a single file, prints the method
and ratio, pauses for a few seconds, then exits with an "Internal Logic
Error" (I've tracked this in the source to probably mean that the size of
the compressed file is different than what the internal routines said it
should be). If someone has the source for Zip 1.0 that will compile under
GCC 2.11a and Linux 0.96a, please upload them to tsx-11, or uuencode them
and mail it to me. Thanks in advance.
And regarding X11, since my last problem, I reinstalled X11, and
now it doesn't even print an error message, it just displays the version
and exits (return code 1). Very odd. Many thanks to those who responded,
hopefully their suggestions in some combination will help. For reference,
I have a Paradise Plus (256k PVGA1A), 33Mhz 386, 4MB RAM, and I'm running
usually in 132x43 text mode. And yes, my /dev/tty0 is "c 4 0". Any otheer
help would be greatly appreciated.
