Has anyone gotten X up on a Dell computer with their built-in VGA?
I've got a Dell 325SX with their standard VGA monitor (whatever its
specs are) and their built-in VGA adapter which they say is
compatible with Western Digital/Paradise VGA products. So far I've
not had any luck with and clock or modes that I've tried. I'm using
the 0.96 bootimage. I get the lines identifying X386 and then it
tells me "giving up." Then xinit isn't able to connect to the X
server since it never got running. When I used the bootimage that
came with the x11v0.1 tar file (pre-0.96 bootimage I presume), I
also see a message "Too less memory for virtual resolution". From
what I can see in my limited Dell documentation, there is 256K
memory on the built-in VGA board.
If anyone has got theirs going or has an idea what to try, could you
please forward any information?
I think I'm probably out of luck with my current mouse too. The
mouse that comes with these Dell systems plugs into a "special"
mouse port on the machine as opposed to the serial port. I assume
that this is a "bus mouse".
