The reason you can't see it is that it hasn't one. (Or rather, it did,
but it won't do you any good.) The Coloured Book software supplied by
HP and the University of Edinburgh causes the machine to panic and halt.
In any case it isn't supported under the new release of the operating
system. While it was still there, I tried setting up software to
send stuff uuencoded by email, but never could get it to work. Even when
the coloured book stuff worked, I was uneasy about setting up anonymous
ftp via NIFTP, since it would have to give any users read access to the
entire system. All complaints and requests for help to HP and to
Edinburgh have been ignored. HP have now appointed someone new to be
in charge of their side of things. A tape has been promised, which may
actually exist. Some claim it should have been delivered to us two or
three months ago, others deny it. I certainly haven't seen any such
tape, and I doubt it will work when it arrives -- no release of coloured
book software has worked properly in the past three years, as far as I
am aware.
