The software index project is plodding along. It has been
interrupted by a couple of items. Giving and grading :( midterm
exams has taken up most of my time for the last week. And then,
I have had to switch all of my mail and news work back to
my DOS partition and Waffle because Smail refuses to compile
and work for me, not to mention any of the news programs

Aside:
PLEASE, SOMEONE WHO HAS MAIL WORKING, PUT THE BINIARIES
AT AN ARCHIVE SITE. That way, those of us who for whatever
reason can't get smail to work won't be completely left
out of mail-related projects. Thank you
(And to answer the oft-asked question, Yes I can (and have)
        modified all of the makefiles)
End of Aside.

The first edition of the software index, covering what I feel is
mandatory to make linux useful (my opinions only since I can't
imagine not having a full emacs installation) should be out by
midweek, next weekend (May 9) at the latest.
