Hello Linux experts
This weekend I'm trying to install Linux on my home computer.
(386 25 Mhz 256 kB cache, Sdc Co-pr, 120 MB hd, 4 mb ram). And after finding
out that you have to type "INSTALL/mkfs" and not mkfs even though i am in the
INSTALL directory it seems like I might be getting somewhere. BUT:
The part of editing the bootimage disk I just cant get. I've
got the pboot.exe dos program and it keeps asking for a filename? On my
bootdisk there *are* *no* filenames that dos can recognize. I've no dowloaded
an binary fileeditor for dos, but it can't find any files on my a: drive eighter!
Am I understanding everything that I should set two bytes at position 508
(desimal) on my bootdisk (floppy) to 04 03 (my linux disk has number /dev/hda4).
I think I can do it if I just could find a file on my bootdisk form MS-dos (5.0)
I hope somebody can help because I realy would like to run real
multitasking on my home computer.
