Count me as one more person whose system gets into an infinite reboot
loop at the SVGA menu no matter what keys are pressed.
Since I obviously can't debug the problem myself, if Linus (or some
responsible person) wants to send me a small test binary with debugging
code inserted at this point, I'll be glad to run it and report the results.
(Since my mail host uses EBCDIC, the binary should be ZIPped or ZOOed
before uuencoding to provide extra verification of its integrity.)
Alternatively, I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who is
successfully running Linux on a system like mine: an Everex Step 386is
with an Everex Viewpoint VGA card (EV-678); the card's firmware is
version 1.04. There is 4M of memory. I'm using the 0.95c+ boot image
from A. V. LeBlanc's second interim release, but exactly the same thing
occurs if I use Linus's 0.95a boot image from tsx-11.

I have used both the Manchester UNCOMP.EXE and another uncompressor,
U16.EXE (which is well-tested and definitely different from UNCOMP.EXE -
its binary is less than half the size of UNCOMP.EXE's); they give identical
output files when uncompressing the 0.95c+ boot image. It therefore seems
likely that both are correct, and that the problem lies elsewhere.
(On the first attempt, I did find that rawrite terminated with the message
"Address mark not found"; what does this mean? Anyway, it didn't occur on
the second try.)
