Well, much to my surprise, `find / |egrep lib92.04.12' doesn't find anything.
It seems that the file that X 'requires' to run doesn't exist, which might be
why X refuses to run. I'm getting a number of errors as I try different
things (unable to open :0, etc) but one thing I've discovered: 'X :0' prints
the two-line 'hello' message, then gives me a prompt. It's supposed to do
more than that, at least, isn't it?
One other concern I've got: I expect to upgrade to GCC2.2.2 (as soon as I get
time, major compiler upgrades aren't what you'd call speedy at 2400 baud). Now,
the last time I tried to upgrade compilers was to 2.11c, so X would run...it
broke almost everything (I guess because of shared libs). Once I got make
running again, I recompiled everything, and it seems to be going fine...but
when 2.2.2 goes on, well, will it break X? Badly enough that I'll have to
start over? Or would it simply be a good idea to ditch what I've got and
replace with GCC2.2.2 and the latest version of X (what is that version,
anyway? I thought it was 1.2, but I didn't find that at the ftp site (nic,
I think).
