From: chad@src.umd.edu (R Michael McMahon) Subject: ld: malformed input (not archive)? Date: Mon, 29 Jun 1992 07:14:59 GMT
OK, I'm stuck. After compiling the whole 0.96bp2 kernel with my brand new
GCC 2.2.2, ld chokes on the *.a modules like bkl_drv.a, saying "not rel or
archive". Of course, I'm using the latest binutils (compiled by hlu on May 17).
Since the compilation went fine, I'm quite sure the problem is with "ar". Ranlib
works on these files, this but doesn't help "ld" at all. Also, "ld" seems ok,
since other stuff links and runs normally. Have I missed something or is "ar"
broken on banjo:GCC/binutils.tar.Z?
Also, where are the patches to binutils-1.9 source? Aren't these posted
anywhere? I tried porting them myself, but I must have the wrong CFLAGS
because nothing works.
Thanks.
