Subject: URGENT: Need X386 info pronto.

Could someone please tell me if there is any way to get support for those
new 24bit SVGA or local bus SVGA cards with S3 graphics coprocessor for
X386 under Linux? I think it would be really neat if you could get
X11R5 to take full advantage of the S3 chip...your graphics would be
sped up quite a bit I'm sure. Also, support for one of those 24bit
SVGA boards would be great too. You'd have a much larger palette than
VGA's normal palette size of 262,144 colors. With one of those new
24bit cards you presumably have a palette of 16.7 million colors.

If support is available for either one of these video boards then where
do I get the drivers for them? I need to know this information right
away because I'm going to be ordering a 486 system this week and I'm
not sure what kind of graphics card to get with it. If *NEITHER* one
of these cards are fully supported by X386 (the cards' special features
I mean) can I just use them in the "standard" SVGA modes like 1024x768
with 256 colors? Or, will X386 just croak and not work at all with
either one of these boards? BTW, I also plan on running Windows 3.1
a little bit (not too much however...I like UNIX a lot better) so
bear this in mind when replying.

Any help or comments that anyone can give would be *GREATLY APPRECIATED*.
Thanks in advance...I could really use some help on this matter.
