Subject: disappearing for a while....

I am going on vacation for a while(I am taking my linux machine with me)
and I will have only minimal outgoing mail(through this account) ;)
I will continue to receive mail, but outgoing will be minimal. This situation
will continue until I return, and start my new job and get an acct. there.
I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause people. When I return, I
will finally upgrade from .96(not a, nor any pl's) ;)
It looks like .96b_pl1 is exactly what I need. :)
Hopefully, by then the .97 (maybe with DOS-FS, and BIG-FS) kernel will be out.

I am also going to touch on another subject while I am at it. :)
My installation experiences:
I did this at work, it took me a week to download everything. I started with
version .95(with the floppy errors) I had just gotten a new 106 drive,
and I had dos on my xt. I installed dos on a 20meg part. so I could rawrite
the images. The first thing I rawrote were kermit, the oot, and the boot disks.
I was new to linux, and had used unix a little previously. I am a DOS power
user(seems that most of my work deals with DOS. My neighbor across the
street has VA plates: PC WIZARD, and he uses DOS only. I know more about DOS
than he does even, but he can program rings around me). ;) I saw 1 reference
to mtools, but not how to use it, or what it did. So, I got my favorite term
emul. up on my XT, and kermit on the 386, and a null-modem to copy everything
over to linux. That is how I got my software installed.
I also got some parts from GEnie and some from a FidoNet node in Long Island.

Well, maybe this will help in some way...
later,
