No, this is not the speedup. The DDJ speedup only applies if you have a
monochrome adapter in addition to the ET4000 SVGA.

While on the subject. Does X386 for Linux have the ET4000 speedups from
export.lcs.mit.edu? I've heard that they greatly improve the performance of
X386 drawing. They would definitely make xmartin work quicker.
