I just tried this with the 486. It's an Opti 486/33, Opti chipset,
AMI 05/09/91 bios. The common factors here are Adaptec 1542b and
the AMI bios.
On this machine, it just HUNG solid when it started reading from the
floppy. It seems like the adaptec may have gotten hung, because the
floppy light stayed on ... but I waited several minutes with no response.
I had to cycle power to reboot!
Should the Adaptec matter when booting from the floppy? (the floppy controller
is on the adaptec board).
Thanks in advance,
bill
