Subject: BOOT PROBLEM ---- NEED AS86 SOURCE TO FIX
Date: 1 Jun 1992 11:22:41 GMT

Since nobody seems to be able to solve my boot problem (see below )I'd like to
fix it myself. I believe I can compile up linux using the djgpp version of
gcc, but I connot compile the bootsect.S etc without as86(and ld86).

I've looked for source and pointers to source on a number of archive
sites with no success. Is it available ? ( even a binary for sun3/4 or
djgpp would do).

thanks for your help

Boot problems

I've tried to boot my PC clone (DX-33MHz,4MB RAM,3.5in floppy, AMIBIOS,
Headland chip set) using a number of different boot disks but always get
the same problem. (the boot disk works fine on an Elonex SX-25Mhz)

The keyboard does not appear to work eg when asked to type enter it has
no effect. I can get an "any other key" by pressing the "print screen"
key but after that I'm stuck since I can't type enter to load the root
disk.

Has anyone had similar problems and more importanly is there some fix.

Thanks

        Gerry
(this is a bit depressing since I bought the pc to run linux)
