Or PLEASE CONTACT ME (use my HOME address below). I wrote the VESA patch
(and use it every day on my Diamond Stealth VRAM). I used the April 1989 DDJ
article on VESA support to write the VESA BIOS calls. I have since gotten
the internal S3 specs, but I still have no answers as to why only the 01xx
video modes are in my BIOS capabilities list. I put in one special hack
for the 132 column modes (which claim to be 1280 pixels horizontally, instead
of 1056). I want this VESA code to work on EVERY VESA compliant video board.
Of course, you board MUST support the VESA extensions in its VIDEO BIOS in order
for this to work. Boards that support VESA BIOS extensions through TSRs are SOL.
Please let me know what your problems with the VESA support are, and I will try
and keep the support correct. Opinions always welcome (as is a copy of the
VESA video BIOS extensions spec as well), and any and all VESA standard mode
numbers and resolutions. I've tried to keep my list up-to-date (since the
article in DDJ was from a preliminary spec and is incomplete), but I'm not sure
how modes 02xx and 03xx are covered by the latest VESA standard. But if they
are returned by the VESA Capabilities function, then they should be supported.
