From: chip@tct.com (Chip Salzenberg) Subject: Query: Drivers for AHA >1522< ? Date: Tue, 21 Jul 1992 03:52:03 GMT
I am thrilled to find that my 386 boots Linux and 386BSD 0.1. I am
glad to see widespread support for the AHA 1542 SCSI host adapter.
However, being the proud owner of an AHA _1522_, I'm wishing that
386BSD and/or Linux could support what I have. And given the relative
prices of the 1542 and 1522 (the latter is $100 cheaper), there must
be many other people in my position.
So (1) is there anyone who could write such a driver -- perhaps by
making modifications to the 1542 driver(s)? And if not, (2) is there
anyone who would donate an 80M IDE drive to a skilled yet modest
programmer who happens to own a 1522, so that _he_ could write such a
driver?
And, just to make followups more likely, (3) what is the difference
between the 1542 and the 1522? Perspiring minds want to know!
Let's broaden SCSI support in the free-UNIX arena, shall we?
[ Oh, yes: please followup to the appropriate groups... ]
