From: pnakada@oracle.com (Paul Nakada) Subject: 96c patch2 is great! Date: Sun, 19 Jul 1992 19:01:21 GMT
Just wanted to let everyone know the great imprvement I saw when
moving to 96c patch 2. Basically, it's *very* hard to get linux to
lose characters in serial transmission. In the past, I've had to let
the zmodem transfers consume the shole machine. Any disk activity
would interfere with the transmisssion. Now, I can start up new
xterms, start epoch, whatever, and no characters are lost. I did
notiec under very heavy swapping, characters get lost. This may be
because I'm using the adaptec scsi driver which, although it uses
interrrupts, is still not as fast as the IDE driver.
In any case, patch 2 is great!
thanks Linus
